Baldur’s Gate 3 Finally Comes to Xbox in December
Baldur’s Gate 3 is the third and latest entry of the series, released back in 1998 with the first game by Bioware, with Overhaul Games for the 2nd game in 2013 and finally with this new chapter by Larian Studio in 2023.
Needless to say that Baldur’s Gate 3 has become a huge success, soon climbing the charts of the most played and well received title of 2023, despite being released in the latter half of 2023. And the entry is finally coming this December to the Xbox Series consoles family according to Larian themselves.
What makes Baldur’s Gate 3 special
The game as often described by the enthusiastic studio of Larian, was a huge step up from the previous titles 2d visuals. And as the team is known for their amazing work on the Divinity series, an aspect visible in Baldur’s Gate 3.What players found in Baldur’s Gate 3 was an amazing RPG title in the old style sense, which allowed experimentation with classes and abilities, but most importantly the impressive interactions with various NPCs. Baldur’s Gate 3 in the truest sense allows players to roleplay with a degree of freedom and interaction never seen before.
That combined with a receptive Developer who worked hard and paid attention to the various feedback from the community, which helped release the game from the Early Access to a full game release in about 3 years. An approach that should be praised and emulated by many other AAA developers and publishers, but was reprimanded instead. For actually caring about their product and community.
Release date and confirmation
As an early access title Baldur’s Gate 3 was available initially on PC only, but the team insisted and confirmed on releasing it on the Xbox Series console platforms at a later date. This was mostly due to the limited capabilities of the Series S over the Series X and PS5, which pushed back and needed some work to make the experience enjoyable on the smaller Xbox console. With a recent confirmation of the announcement taking place at The Game Awards of this year for a confirmed release date, thus we’ll know on 8 December 2023
One more confirmation comes in the form of the announcement of the Baldur’s Gate 3: Deluxe Edition for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. Expected to be shipped in the first semester of 2024 and packed with physical and digital goodies (including the content of the Digital Deluxe Edition) for just 79,99€, about 5€ more than the digital deluxe version!
