Baldur’s Gate 3 – Larian Reveals Patch 8 Content and Cross-Play
As revealed on official channels, the team at Larian unveils what’s coming in the next major patch for Baldur’s Gate 3. Patch 8 is packed with content, including 12 new subclasses, the long-awaited Cross-Play, and a Photo Mode.
The team confirms the Stress Test period will begin in January 2025, inviting both PC players and those on Xbox and PlayStation to join the testing. Finally also thanking the community for their votes and support, still ongoing, for Best Community Support at The Game Awards 2024.

Baldur’s Gate 3 – The 12 New Subclasses Coming with Patch 8
Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 8 introduces a major update. Larian confirms a new subclass for each of the game’s 12 classes. This change not only brings new effects and animations but also additional dialogue options with the Oathbreaker Knight. Here’s the lineup:
- Bard – College of Glamour: Capable of healing allies and commanding enemies.
- Barbarian – Path of Giants: Harness extraordinary strength and massive size.
- Cleric – Death Domain: A cleric with necromancy-based damage abilities.
- Druid – Circle of Stars: Star-powered druids with 3 Starry Forms for every occasion.
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown: Paladins loyal to their principles and strong leadership.
- Fighter – Arcane Archer: Combines magic and archery for powerful new effects.
- Monk – Drunken Master: Alcohol fuels strength and chaos for enemies.
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper: Summon swarms to aid in battles.
- Rogue – Swashbuckler: Adds flair for outsmarting foes in duels.
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic: Access potent abilities shrouded in shadows.
- Warlock – Hexblade: Forge a pact with Shadowfell for magical weapons and necromancy.
- Wizard – Bladesinging: Cast spells with your weapon alongside physical buffs.
BG3: Photo Mode Arrives with Many Features
Baldur’s Gate 3 finally introduces Photo Mode, allowing the community to get creative and capture epic—or comedic—moments from their adventures. This robust addition offers various visual options and settings, including:
Settings: Camera, Lens, and Scene
Accessible via the game HUD or a hotkey, it lets players focus on selected characters. Adjust Focus, Perspective, Depth, and Exposure. Scene settings allow you to remove NPCs or party members, complemented by over 40 dynamic or static poses.
Additions: Post-Processing, Frames, and Stickers
You can also add elements to your scene with post-processing effects for a unique impact or frames to enhance the visual appeal. Decorate with over 300 stickers and add up to 30 per scene.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Christmas Theme: “Very Larian Christmas” Coming
With Patch 8 set to launch in 2025, including the Stress Test in January, Larian leaves fans with a festive surprise. The team announces a “Very Larian Christmas” event for Baldur’s Gate 3, featuring advent rewards, details of which will be shared as December begins.
Baldur’s Gate 3 keep on improving and expanding its content for free, a stark contrast to many modern publishers. Especially with Valve take on Season Pass and DLC policy with undelivered content. Making it undoubtedly a strong contender for Best Community Support at The Game Awards 2024.

People wonder why BG3 is still one of the most played games on steam, and it is because the game has endless options and replayability, and because Larian doesn’t stop adding new things that make players start a new run, like this update, my god 12 new subclasses… that Arcane Archer sounds too cool, definitely will have to give it a try
