Apex Legends Surpassed Fortnite On Twitch In First Week Launch
Apex Legends was able to outdo Fortnite when their hours watched on the first week on Twitch was compared. The New BR now boasts about having over 11 million more hours watched than its primary competitor. Apex Legends accumulated triple the amount of viewers than Fortnite on Twitch within just two days of being released. It was also the number one game on the platform, hitting 10 million players worldwide. Apex also had one million concurrent players within 72 hours of going live.
OtherSide Entertainment Got Back Rights To System Shock 3
Starbreeze was able to sellback the publishing rights of System Shock 3 to the original developers OtherSide Entertainment. The publisher signed on System Shock 3 in 2017 when it was still in its early concept stages. And the decision to sell it back had been mutual for the two. The original investment was $12 million USD and they expect to be fully reimbursed for everything that has been spent in connection with the game. The future plans of Starbreeze are not clear for now.
Slo-Mo System For Combat Available In The Outer Worlds
The Outer Worlds is a role-playing game which is also a first-person shooter. Developer Obsidian made sure that the game’s combat won’t be boring or mindless for players so they added the TTD or Tactical Time Dilation which is a slo-mo system similar to that of Fallout’s VATS. This will make players who are not really FPS players to still be tactically efficient in the game. The Outer Worlds still doesn’t have a specific launch date but is expected to launch anytime this year.
Ultrawide Support And FOV Slider To Come To Yakuza 0
Yakuza 0 is getting a major patch and it comes with an important FOV slider. Players can now enjoy ultrawide setups for the game as well as choose what monitor you output to. In addition to this, there will also be a background audio slider as well as a UI toggle. A huge lighting fix was also made available. It has also been said that controversial DRM Denuvo has been dropped but this has not been confirmed yet. Players will just notice that the file a bit lighter and that it now loads faster.
Glitch Found In Fallout 76 Trapped Players In Sealed Vault
Reddit user McStaken had been playing with his group when they accidentally got warped into the locked Vault 63. This happened to them during a Rad-Rat Horde event. They documented their experience and shared it but also sent a bug report of the incident to Bethesda. Since they did the bug report, Bethesda had been kind to them and the whole experience did not result in a permanent ban. Bethesda previously banned players who try to explore unreleased content in the game.
Multiple Layoffs To Be Done In Activision Blizzard
Activision Blizzard announced that they will be doing hundreds of job cuts in order to centralize functions as well as boost profits. Some key titles under the company had been underperforming resulting in low-profit gains. Activision has also parted with Bungie the developer of Destiny as they would want to “increase [their] focus on owned IP and other projects.” Last year we also saw the departure of Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg and Blizzard Entertainment president Mike Morhaime.
VR Update Available For Beat Saber
Have you played Beat Saber? It’s a VR game where beats come flying at you and you would have to hit every single one of them in sync with the music playing. This can sometimes get so fast that some VR headsets like the Vive are not able to keep up. Valve thought that they were able to cap at the limitations of the human movement for this but apparently, they were wrong. A Valve engineer explained that the glitches were due to players moving at superhuman speeds. Everything is now adjusted accordingly.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Tops UK Sales Charts
Red Dead Redemption 2 has retaken the top spot from Kingdom Hearts 3 and is now in its sixth week at the number 1 spot in the UK sales charts. The game had a 14% rise in sales week-on-week which help it rise to the top. Kingdom Heart’s 3, on the other hand, had a drop of 87% pushing the game down to 3rd place. Second place belongs to FIFA 19 while Resident Evil 2 dropped to the 4th position having a drop in sales of about 67%. On 5th place is Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and the rest of the list looks pretty much the same.
Resident Evil 2 Mod Features Mr. X New Music
Remember the meme “Mr. X gon give it to ya”? Well, someone has made a mod out of it and you can actually see that in the game. PC players of Resident Evil 2 has got a treat with a new mod inserting the classic track from DMX, X Gon’ Give It To Ya when being confronted by Mr. X. This is courtesy of DJ Pop and all you need to do is extract a certain zip file to the game’s directory and then run the dot exe file in order to switch over the tracks. This kind of lightens up the mood instead of frightening you in the game.
Take-Two Interactive Won Lawsuit Against Grand Theft Auto V Cheat Creator
A lawsuit has been made against Jhonny Perez by Take-Two Interactive for creating the Grand Theft Auto V cheat called “Elusive”. The cheat was sold online with a price range of about $10 to $30 USD. It allowed players to have infinite in-game money, break NPC AI and so much more. Take-Two Interactive said that the damages made by this cheat has caused the company $500,000 USD in losses. Take-Two Interactive won the lawsuit against Perez. Perez was ordered to pay $150,000 USD in damages.
Sony Will Not Be In E3 2019, PlayStation Exec Explains
Sony Interactive Entertainment World Wide Studio chairman Shawn Layden said that Sony will be skipping E3 2019. Layden explained that their company is focusing on fewer but bigger games this and that they don’t have anything significant to announce when E3 comes around by June. Also, Layden announced that they will be having an event called Destination PlayStation in February where they plan to bring together retailers as well as third-party partners in order for them to hear their story.
Apex Legends Hits 25-Million Player Mark in Just a Week
Apex Legends has garnered a whopping 25 million plus players within one week of being released. This is undoubtedly one of the best releases this year considering the milestones the game has been able to hit thus far. It has surpassed its primary competitor Fortnite in hours watched on twitch within the first week by more than 11 million. This game is destined for greatness and should it persist, it will certainly reach the apex in the BR genre. Apex Legends is available for PS4, Xbox One, and Origin on PC.
The Division 2 Open Beta Accidentally Teased
A tweet published by The Division 2’s official Twitter account suggests there will be an open beta for the game. The said Tweet was a response to a fan who had inquired about rewards. “Earn the Capitol Hill Arm Patch by completing the Invaded Mission in the Private or Open Beta,” is what the Tweet read. Upon seeing the post and applying a little deduction the fans were excited. There has been no mention of an official date for the Open Beta nor any further news surrounding the topic.
Fortnite Gets New Gun, Challenges and Nerfs With Update 7.40
Fortnite’s 7.40 update will see the addition of a new gun, overtime challenges and nerfs. The new weapon is labeled Infantry Rifle but no information regarding its stats has surfaced. The incoming nerfs were mentioned in a Reddit post published by the developer, which detailed a number of incoming balance and gameplay adjustments. The details for the Overtime Challenge missions are also yet to be announced but we do know they’re part of the Share the Love event.
Rainbow Six Siege’s New Australian Map Revealed
Ubisoft posted a video today of Rainbow Six Siege’s Operation Burnt Horizon map. The developers recently announced that Rainbow Six Siege year 4 season 1 will take place in Australia so it makes sense that the map is reminiscent of the environment found on the island continent. According to the level designers, the map is divided into three distinct sections, the Garage, the Motel, and the Restaurant. The Operation will be fully revealed on February 17, 2019, during the Six Invitational in Montreal.
Players Won’t Be Able to Team Up With Friends in Crackdown 3’s Multiplayer
Crackdown 3 is set for release in just a couple of days. This is certainly good news but it comes with a bit of a let-down as players will not be able to play with their friends at launch. Players subscribe to a multiplayer game because they intend to play with multiple players so disappointment is imminent. Joseph Staten, Senior Creative Director at Microsoft Studios implored fans to stay tuned for more on the matter at a future date. Crackdown 3 releases on the 15 of February.
Hollow Knight Hornet DLC to be Shown Off This Week
Developers Team Cherry is getting ready to share the latest DLC for Hollow Knight on February 14, 2019. The developers have been working diligently to release new content for their critically acclaimed Metroidvania game for the year. Firaxis Games appears to be in a rather charitable mood as they have made their turn-based strategy game Civilization 6 for free on Steam for 48 hours. This is good news for fans who were undecided about trying the game with the price being its major deterrent. H1Z1’s Season 3 Battle Pass Rolls Out on the PS4
H1Z1 has queued Battle Pass Season 3 for the PlayStation 4. Season 3 features an FFA Deathmatch which places 50 players in the combat zone. There is also Training Grounds suited to guide all the new players. In addition, the Season 3 expansion includes a wide range of gameplay enhancements and improvements. The Battle Pass has attendance rewards, redesigned lobbies and front-end UI. Players that unlock all 100 tiers of the Battle Pass will be able to access exclusive challenges.
Treyarch Teases Changes Coming to Blackout Map
Treyarch is apparently teasing some new map changes to the Black Ops 4 Blackout map. The developers recently released a tweet containing a short video of an actual map with the caption “Here’s is the plan…” We are all familiar with the nature of a “tease” so there is no expectation for detailed information. However, players are excited to be seeing changes and have already begun speculating as to what the reformed map will look like. Treyarch also promises a preview of the next Black Ops 4 operation to come soon.
Apex Legends Could Be Teasing Its First In-Game Event
Fans began suspecting there might be an incoming event for Apex Legends as mysterious messages persist to appear in the game. These messages are usually regarding the appearance of a mythical beast. One repeated message reads “A Nessy Appears…” It is human nature to speculate about undefined events and Apex legend fan-base acts accordingly. Respawn community manager Jay Frechette said “let’s just say someone is on to something…” but didn’t identify the “someone” but we do know something is to be expected.
Titanfall 2’s Player Count Doubles Thanks to Apex Legends
Apex Legends has been the talk of the town for almost every news outlet since being released less than two weeks ago. Today it is being labeled the reason Titianfall 2 has doubled its player-base. This might seem odd but it really isn’t, Apex Legends has significantly increased player traffic through the Origin storefront where Titanfall also resides. So yes, indirectly Apex Legends has revived Titanfall as players who once played return and those who didn’t know about it had it at their convenience.
