PUBG Corp. CEO Chang Han Kim posted a lengthy piece on the official Xbox blog announcing the Xbox Game Preview release date for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
Kim has revealed that the shooter will release as a console launch exclusive on Xbox One on December 12. The announcement was first made at the Xbox booth at Paris Games Week by Kim, Brendan Greene (PlayerUnknown), and Xbox Games Marketing’s General Manager, Aaron Greenberg.
He also revealed that although PC and Xbox One versions are being developed at the same time, they have different roadmaps. This means that the Xbox One version will be a little different compared to what PC has right now. Kim did mention however that their goal is get the two versions aligned as quickly as possible. This makes sense since Greene did mention that they wanted to work on cross-play between the two platforms “down the road”.
Also, three limited-edition cosmetic packs are coming exclusively to Xbox One. These are the PUBG Warrior Pack, the PUBG Accessory Pack, and the PUBG Tracksuit Pack. These will be the only items available for purchase during the Game Preview period.
Another good news he shared is that the 1.0 release for PC is still on schedule for late December, although no specific date was mentioned. The launch will see the addition of the climbing and vaulting features and a new desert map.
An update was just rolled out for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds that increases the blue zone DOT the farther you get from the play zone.
