Bandai Namco has just confirmed that the open beta for their upcoming 3v3 2D anime fighter, Dragon Ball FighterZ, will have 11 playable characters in its roster. This is the same number of characters that were available during the recently concluded closed beta.

Although they did not confirm the actual roster, it is expected to be comprised of Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan Vegeta, Teen Gohan, Future Trunks, Krillin, Piccolo, Android 16, Android 18, Frieza, Cell and Majin Buu. These are the same characters that were available during the closed beta.

Only 2 modes have been confirmed for the open beta so far. The first one is the World Match which pits 2 players online in standard 3v3 battles. Obviously, this is where most players will be spending their time during the open beta. However, if you feel tired from all the fighting, you will also have access to the Replay Channel where you can watch previous matches. Only matches recorded by the developers will be available for viewing during the open beta.

Bandai Namco may make changes to the open beta’s contents before it opens. They’ve already confirmed that the open beta client will be a different download from the closed beta, so there may be hope that more content has been added this time around. Enhancements derived from closed beta data may be included, but there is no confirmation as of yet.

The open beta will run for 4 days. Those who pre-ordered will have early access starting 13 January at 8AM (UK). The gates open for everyone else on 14 January at 8AM (UK). The beta ends on 16 January at 8AM (UK). Other regions’ schedules vary slightly. The open beta will only be available to players on Xbox One and PS4.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is scheduled for release on 26 January for PC, Xbox One and PS4. You can pre-order the game now to get early access to the open beta (for consoles) and 2 early character unlocks — Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta.

I guess this beta it’s not that important since the game will come out not too long after. Hope to see this game in SKB wheel. 😀

I think they’ll only be making fine adjustments to the net code with a few big fixes and balance changes. Don’t forget to follow Steam Key Box on Facebook and Twitter for updates on added games.

PC version is always cheaper with better graphics, I wonder if there will be exclusive characters for the console version!

There has been no talk of platform-exclusive characters and it seems very unlikely for there to be any. Most exclusive characters are guest characters, something I highly doubt this game will have.
